Drawbacks of Becoming a Freelance Animator

Although there are good points to becoming a freelance animator there are also some drawbacks,

-If you are required to work from home it can be quite lonely.
-Also you need to be disiplined
-Unfortunately working as a freelancer means you dont get a pension or healthcare.
-One of the major drawbacks is the lack of job security, there might be long periods where you could be out of work.
- You have to sort out your own accounts, which can be quite a frustrating purpose. There is always the option to get the assistance of an accountant but this will also cost.
-You are required to work to strict deadlines, failing to do so will not make you look very professional to the client or employer.
-You may also have to spend time travelling to and from different work locations, or you may be asked to move to a specific location for a certain period of time.
-Also working as a freelancer means you may be required to only work on part time basis, which can be very uncertain.
- You need to be able to manage your time well , if this is not a skill you possess this may not be the job for you.
-One of the drawbacks of working from home rather than in a company is that it is very easy to get distracted.
-You also need to be willing to negotiate with clients over contracts and payments without caving in and being under paid for hard work. This can be quite a difficult process.
-You have to be careful not to let potential clients take advantage of you.
